Solidarity to earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria

SOLIDARITY TO EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS IN TURKEY AND SYRIA
The people of Turkey and Syria are suffering hardships by the huge devastation left behind by the powerful earthquakes in southeastern Turkey. The dead are already over a thousand, while many thousands will be the injured, the orphans and the homeless. Our hearts and thoughts are with the brotherly Turkish people and the rest of the neighboring peoples. We demand the Greek government to show immediate reflexes and offer aid by sending rescuers, rescuing equipment and humanitarian aid.
The working class will wage its own solidarity struggle which is substantial, honest and true. Our people must help save the neighboring peoples. Now is the time for unions and people’s collectives to take their own solidarity initiatives towards the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria. As NAR and nKA we are committed to taking and supporting similar initiatives.
We also express our special sympathy to comrades on the other side of the Aegean who may have lost relatives and friends.
The earthquakes were strong, but once again we notice that it is the people's houses, the slums that suffered the greatest damage. The working class and the poor in Turkey and Syria paid the greatest blood toll. Let's not forget that these are two peoples whose governments have set them to war with each other in recent years. At the same time, the refugees of the long war in Syria are uprooted once again, facing this catastrophe under extremely unfavorable conditions.
Together with our solidarity, we express again our permanent request to stop the wars, to withdraw the occupying armies, to stop the armament programs and the cultivation of a nationalist climate by the states of the region.
The peoples of the SE Mediterranean do not need wars, nationalism and capitalist rivalries. We need infrastructure, social care, protection of human life and international solidarity!
