NAR: Frigate mission in the Red Sea escalates dangerous engagement

The government's decision to send a naval frigate to the war zone in the Red Sea alongside the US and Israel and against Yemen's Houthi rebels is a dangerous and reactionary escalation of military engagement. The frigate deployment is in support of Israel's brutal war in Gaza and the West Bank as the Houthis oppose the massacre of Palestinians. At the same time, it is another move to align with US plans, but it is also an option to protect the interests of the powerful Greek shipping capital. It threatens to involve Greece even more deeply in the antagonisms and military confrontations in the region, as the armada that will be assembled is aimed at Iran. Let's not forget that there is already a Greek Patriot artillery battery in Saudi Arabia, fully formed, to protect the oil installations of the Saudi Kingdom.
10 countries have expressed interest in the international military operation with the pretended name of "Prosperity Guardian". Although the legal formula for the mission has not yet been found, the government of New Democracy and the Minister of Defence Nikolas Dendias have been quick to sign up!

Greece has already sent frigates on imperialist missions in the South-Eastern Mediterranean: the NATO mission to escort the USS Gerald Ford and support Israel (now the frigate Psara with a crew and security team of more than 200 people in total), in Lebanon and in Libya. Also, in addition to the military mission in Kosovo, a new mission is being prepared in Bosnia!The working people and the youth are paying huge armament-military expenses so that the government and the state can appear as willing soldiers in the service of NATO, EU and capital.

The workers-people and anti-war movement must demand:

- No to sending a frigate to the Red Sea

- Turn back all military forces.
- No involvement - complicity in the genocide of Palestine

- No to the armament military expenses- money for the people's needs.

- Ceasefire now in Gaza - Freedom for Palestine!
