NAR for the Communist Liberation: A humiliating deportation of a Lebanese communist by the Greek authorities!

Yesterday, 12/7/2023, the Greek authorities interrogated and deported the Lebanese communist, Souha Bechara, while she was making a transit flight from Lebanon to Switzerland where she has been residing permanently for the last few years with her family. As her relatives complain, Souha Bechara, a member of the Lebanese Communist Party, was interrogated at El. Venizelos airport in Athens. There she was told that she was being deported for reasons of "national security" of Greece and other EU member states.

This is a shameful act, which has nothing to do with "national security" but is obviously related to the close cooperation of the Greek secret services with the Israeli ones and others. This is an act that targets a historic and internationally recognized fighter of the popular and liberation movement of Lebanon, as a terrorist. Souha Bechara fought against the 15-year occupation of southern Lebanon by the Israeli state, she was imprisoned and held illegally for years in a prison-hell of Israel's collaborators in southern Lebanon. After Israel abandoned southern Lebanon, Bechara was released and went to France and then to Switzerland. There she raised a family while continuing to act in favor of socialism in the Middle East, in favor of the Palestinian struggle.

It is known that the European Union has increased the pressure on Palestinians and other activists living in its member countries and fighting against the Occupation of the Palestinian territories by the Israeli state. Is this interrogation and deportation part of the new Greek-Israeli military agreement that was recently signed?

In any case, as NAP for Communist Liberation and Communist Liberation youth, we express our full solidarity with Souha Bechara and her party, the Lebanese Communist Party.

• Communists and militants are not a threat to the security of the Greek people!
• The Greek state should apologize and lift the exclusion of Souha Bechara! No cooperation with Israel, the terrorist state. 
• Down with the aggressive war axis of Greece-Cyprus-Israel.
• Solidarity is the weapon of the people!
